A favourite artist of mine is  Marion Tuu'luq 

She liked to use fabrics  as her medium . . .simple cut out shapes put together as appliquée patterns  and heavily embroidered surfaces . . . . in bright colours!

I love the simplicity of her shapes . . .the NEGATIVE SPACES   around the cut out patterns . . . .below is one of her  art works . . .I imagine there are many more to see online or at the National Gallery of Canada.
